The first is Vivah, released in 2006 which stars Amrita Rao and Shahid Kapur. This can be considered a traditional love story based upon an arranged marriage where the two young persons eventually do fall in love with each other and are forced to face a crisis before they can have their “happily ever after”.
The second is Veer Zaara, released in 2004 which stars Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan. This is a classic-styled love story based upon forbidden love since the two young persons are of different religious backgrounds and are forced to make sacrifices and go their separate ways, putting their love to the ultimate test.
I highly recommend both movies to anyone who can consider themselves a “hopeless romantic” like me. I do caution you though, that these movies should not be viewed, unless you have a box of tissues at your disposal.
